Reclaiming Your Lithuanian Heritage
If you or your descendants held Lithuanian citizenship before June 15, 1940, you may have an indefinite right to the restoration of Lithuanian citizenship. While the standard process generally requires you to hold only one passport, the applicants can qualify for a significant exception.

The Path to Dual Citizenship
Typically, the restoration of Lithuanian citizenship requires renouncing your current nationality. However, you can maintain dual citizenship if you or your ancestors (including parents, grandparents, or great-grandparents):
- Were forcibly expelled from Lithuania prior to March 11, 1990.
- Left the country to seek refuge or a new life abroad before March 11, 1990.
This provision ensures that those separated from Lithuania by history can reclaim their identity without giving up their current home.
